Island Empire is a gorgeous, turn-based strategy game with pixelated graphics similar to games from GameBoy Advance. To play, do everything within your power to expand your empire while also defending it from enemy empires.
Gameplay in Island Empire goes as follows. In each round, there are two opposing kingdoms: yours and the enemy's. Each turn, you can choose whether you want to advance your army to gain ground or produce new units. The game also has a fusion system that's more typical of merge games. Basically, you can improve your units by merging two with the same level. To gain ground, tap one of your units, then tap on an adjacent square (preferably in the direction of your enemy's territory) to make it yours. You can also fight against enemy units, but remember to take the gap between your level and your enemy's into account. If enemy soldiers start to surround you, for example, it might be a good idea to retreat and wait for backup.
It's important to remember that your moves cost money, and in this case, money is life. If you run out of coins, your soldiers will die, leaving your territory completely exposed to your enemy. The more land you conquer, the more money you'll earn per turn. That said, the more troops you have, the more money they'll cost.
Island Empire is a truly addictive and entertaining game with beautiful, nostalgic graphics. In short, this is a great game for passing some time as you conquer territory and build your empire the old-fashioned way.
